Thailand's Roadshow demonstrated major Green Energy Transition and a Step towards Sustainability

The Enlit Asia Thailand Roadshow on April 30, 2024, in Bangkok was a resounding success in driving Thailand towards a greener energy future.

With over 200 attendees, the event united stakeholders from utilities, generators, IPPs, policymakers, regulators, EPCs, technology providers, project developers, off-takers, financial institutions, and investors.

Commitment to Sustainable Energy

The program began with an inspiring speech from Woranon Chansiri, Director of the International Affairs Division at Thailand's Ministry of Energy, highlighting the government's strong commitment to sustainable energy.

Chansiri stressed the need for collaboration and innovation to overcome challenges and achieve environmental goals, underscoring the role of public-private partnerships in achieving sustainable solutions.

EGAT's Sustainable Energy Efforts

Supasit Boonsanong, Partner and Head of Energy at Tilleke & Gibbins, provided a comprehensive overview of Thailand's energy outlook, focusing on key initiatives like the National Energy Plan (NEP) 2024 and the New Renewable and Alternative Energy Development Plan (AEDP) 2024.

Boonsanong emphasized emerging technologies such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and the growing role of hydrogen as an alternative energy source.

High-Level Panel Discussion

A high-level panel discussion featured industry leaders like Dr. Worpong Sinsukthavorn from Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO), Tawatchai Sumranwanich from EGAT, Pongsakorn Yuthagovit from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), David Maclean from Landis+Gyr, and Eugene Loke from Trilliant Networks.

They engaged in insightful discussions on energy security, grid stability, renewable energy frameworks, and technological innovations.

In conclusion, Woranon Chansiri expressed gratitude to all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions, inviting them to join the upcoming Enlit Asia event in Kuala Lumpur from October 8-10, 2024, to further advance sustainable energy initiatives.
